Adaptation of spontaneous activity in the developing visual cortex

چکیده
Spontaneous activity drives the establishment of appropriate connectivity in different circuits during brain development. In mouse primary visual cortex, two distinct patterns spontaneous occur before vision onset: local low-synchronicity events originating retina and global high-synchronicity cortex. We sought to determine contribution these jointly organize network through activity-dependent plasticity rules. postulated that shape cortical input selectivity topography, while homeostatically regulate connection strength. However, generate robust selectivity, we found should adapt their amplitude history preceding activation. confirmed this prediction by analyzing vivo activity. The predicted adaptation leads sparsification on a slower timescale development, demonstrating remarkable capacity developing sensory cortex acquire sensitivity inputs after eye-opening.

Relationship of Correlated Spontaneous Activity to Functional Ocular Dominance Columns in the Developing Visual Cortex
Utilizing a multielectrode array to record spontaneous and visually evoked activity of cortical neurons in area 17, we investigate the relationship between long-range correlated spontaneous activity and functional ocular dominance columns during early ferret postnatal development (P24-P29). In regions of visual cortex containing alternating ocular dominance patches, periodic fluctuations in cor...

heteropoly acids (hpa) and their salts have advantages as catalysts which make them both economically and environmentally attractive, strong br?nsted acidity, exhibiting fast reversible multi-electron redox transformations under rather mild conditions, very high solubility in polar solvents, fairly high thermal stability in the solid states, and efficient oxidizing ability, so that they are imp...

Effects of visual deprivation on the induction of epileptiform activity were studied in layer II/III of mature rat primary visual cortex. Field potentials were evoked by stimulation of layer IV in slices from control and dark-reared (OR) rats. Picrotoxin (PTX)-induced epileptic activity was characterized by spontaneous and evoked epileptic field potentials (EFPs). The results showed that OR s...
متن کاملSpontaneous bursting activity in the developing entorhinal cortex.
Periodic spontaneous activity represents an important attribute of the developing nervous system. The entorhinal cortex (EC) is a crucial component of the medial temporal lobe memory system. Yet, little is known about spontaneous activity in the immature EC. Here, we investigated spontaneous field potential (fp) activity and intrinsic firing patterns of medial EC layer III principal neurons in ...
متن کاملthe role of visual aids and translation in teaching vocabulary in est
the present study investigated the effect of the two vocabulary teaching techniques in est, namely the use of translation and the use of visual aids as two separate vocabulary teaching techniques. to answer the question of the study, a pretest (michigan test) was administered to the 58 randomly selected est students at khajeh nasiredin tusi university, faculty of mechanics. after the homogeneit...
